Reply: Michael Jackson
Again in 1996, practically a dozen monumental statues popped up all over the world standing thirty toes tall, weighing round 20,000 kilos, and displaying the sculpted visage of none apart from the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
The statues had been large replicas of the statue Jackson had commissioned from sculptor Diana Walczak for the quilt of his 1996 album HIStory: Previous, Current, and Future, E-book I. The sculpture portrayed Jackson in his then trademark pseudo-military costume of alternative, stylized bandoleers throughout his chest, fists clenched, and jaw set as he gazed off into the space. The album launch was accompanied by a worldwide tour and the statues served as a really excessive profile promotional merchandise with the large Michaels stationed in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, and even towed proper down the Thames in London on a barge.
Whereas few of the statues stay at present, the one within the Netherlands was donated by Jackson to a neighborhood Ronald McDonald Home Charity which in flip auctioned it off. The statue, seen right here, was bought, fittingly, by the proprietor of a neighborhood McDonald’s Greatest. It has remained at that location and, after Michael’s loss of life in 2009, grew to become a shrine for native followers.
